2014~ A Year Of Change

Bringing in this new year may have been routine for others, but this year it brought in a whole new me and a whole new way of running our business.

Yesterday was my 55th birthday. Some may feel as if they are getting old…heck, I can now join our local senior citizen group. Wait…putting it that way I DO feel old! Joking of course. Actually, I feel more alive than ever. We had quite a bit of snow on January 2nd, and John was home from work because of it. Once the roads were clear, we shopped around for the essential materials we needed to do a new kind of glamor photography. We have a model coming in on Wednesday and wanted to try a vintage Victorian session. My mind has been reeling the last few days with thoughts of ways to offer our clients unique themed type sessions. If you’ve missed our ad on facebook, we are holding a “Glamor Day” limited edition session on January 19, 2014. This session is limited to 5 people. If interested call 845 926-1952 to reserve your spot.

Glamor Day

This year we also revised our referral policy. Anyone who refers us to a “New” client will receive a $25 Visa gift card for each new client. The more, the merrier. These Visa gift cards can be used at any store that accepts Visa, and remember Gramm Photography also accepts Visa and Master Card. We still offer Gramm Photography Gift Cards for you to purchase as gifts for loved ones.

As this year progresses, watch for the new Gramm Photography to progress, with new products and new limited themed sessions.  This year, make it a point to preserve your memories in print. There’s nothing like the present time to start a new tradition.

We would love to hear you’re feedback as to our new changes. Drop us a line at grammphotography@yahoo.com or comment in this post. We would also love to hear any suggestions as to what you would like us to offer to you.

It’s My Birthday

Wow it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. A really long time! Sorry all, I’m usually the talkative type, but I have never been able to put my thoughts into print. Maybe because most of the time my thoughts are so jumbled it’s hard to find just 1 to blog about.

Well this post is about you. Sorry to drop the ball into your lap…lol. So here is how it goes.

Everyone who follows us on facebook know that every month we pool all your names who have a birthday in that given month, and then randomly choose 1 lucky person to win a FREE birthday session. This month we would like to try something a little different.

For those who have birthdays in June, and who live within a 30 mile radius of Gramm Photography Studios, we want you to leave a comment here, on our blog, as to why you want the session. Is it because you are reaching a new milestone year? or decided to get a new hair cut or new outfit to celebrate your special day? Please be fair and only comment once. Remember to leave your full name so we know who you are. For an extra chance at winning, invite a friend to like Gramm Photography on facebook and leave us a comment on there saying so and so sent me to say hi. On June 16th, Father’s Day, we will randomly choose 1 lucky winner of the session. Remember, your comment must be made here…on the blog , for it to count.

So, Happy Birthday June babies, and don’t forget to comment.

A New Year A New Us~Creative Fun Glamorous Photography

A new year…a new us. As we grow in our personal lives, we are also growing in our business life. We have gone through many changes in 2012, and we are planning on many new changes in 2013.

In 2012 I faced the biggest change in a long time. I had left my full time job to work my photography business full time. For once, I didn’t have to report to work at a specific time, I was home to do as I please. So I sat down, and tried to come up with a way to run this business. Sure, I could take the photos, I knew my camera well enough, and my skills were fresh and new. But after many attempts I realized I had no idea how to run a business.

One day I sat down at my desk, as I have done in the past few weeks. I picked up my pen, and stared at my blank paper. First things first…write down a workable work day schedule, and stick to it. So I set my business days, hours and tasks, and even added in a time for me to take a lunch break. I do realize that in this field of work, and since I am doing most of the work by myself, I have to be flexible. I allotted certain days and times to hold client consultations, certain times for photography sessions, certain times for doing accounting and office work, answering emails, phone calls, ordering and so on. Because I am also on a strict budget, I had to design all my marketing material, and print them so they looked professional. I shopped for props at consignment shops, learned to arrange flowers in vases, and think of inexpensive creative backdrops. After the first two months with my head spinning, things started to fall into place nicely. My schedule was working, my business starting to take shape. I brought in a few new clients, not as much as I would have hoped, but it is a start. Most of all I wasn’t feeling overwhelmed, I was feeling more confident in my business skills. My weakest spot… phone calls, weather I am calling a potential client, or booking a new session, I still get tongue tied on the phone. Nonetheless, I have changed quite a bit in 2012.

2013…what is in store for me? Well first thing on my list is…yes you got it…work on my weakest spot. Maybe practice on the phone with a friend, or write up a script I could read when on the phone with new clients. That is one thing on my 2013 Goal Sheet.

As for this years change in the business. Well, we started a new monthly birthday mini special. Every month I will look at the birthdays of fans on our facebook page, and randomly choose 1 to receive a mini portrait session. How cool is that?

We are also rewarding our clients with gift cards for referrals. Growth for 2013 is my main goal. Marketing will also increase. New products are in the works, along with new creative ideas for fun photo sessions. I am even looking into doing fine art portraiture.

So, stay tuned for the new Gramm Photography in the new 2013. The year of us, the year of change. I will leave you with this quote “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

Until next time…keep smiling.

What A Spectacular Weekend

Hi everyone…what a weekend!  How was yours?

Saturday started our Easter Special. We are offering an Easter mini session with a FREE 8×10 for $55.00. We are having it this year on March 11th from 10AM to 5PM. Give us a call to reserve your spot… we are limited to 14 people.

My dad was also brought to the hospital Saturday night for hypertension. He was admitted, and the doctors changed his meds. He is home now feeling much much better. A big thank you to the crew at Mobile Life Support who took him in.

Sunday was quite a day. As I had mentioned before, we went to a surprise birthday party for Uncle John. We had such a good time. It has been a while that the family was together…we got to meet some new additions to the family, and remarked how old we all felt as we saw how much the last bunch of babies that were born grew. There were a lot of ” I remember whens…” being said. Aunt Kathy had given John an envelope containing a few pictures of when he was little. He was such a cute red headed boy (yes a couple were in color!). I always have a great time at these parties…it’s so nice to see everyone.

The food was GREAT too! Hats off to the chefs. We had music from DJ Fitzy, Johns cousin. If you ever need a DJ, Tom is GREAT. Check out his facebook page for info.  There was a lot of dancing and some karaoke. Even Uncle John was up there dancing up a storm.

After we were all fed…Aunt Kathy passed the microphone around and people shared their funny stories about Uncle John. What a great idea…thank you Aunt Kathy.

The cake was delicious… and I LOVED how they had a picture of him in his younger years on it. I had only come to know Johns family for 12 years now, but since day 1 they had opened their arms to me as family. I feel so blessed to be part of the clan. Thank you for such a warm welcome.

All in all this weekend was spectacular. I can’t wait for the next gathering.

So…let’s see here…as I recall, I was holding a little contest here. Gramm Photography is giving away a FREE mini session to the person who guessed correctly how young Uncle John is. So without further ado….Uncle John is ….TADAAAAAA!

Yes Uncle John is 80 years young! Really everyone…you would have NEVER guessed if you saw him on that dance floor!

And the winner of the FREE mini session is….well why don’t the winner contact me via Gramm Photographys facebook page in a PM. While you’re on facebook, don’t forget to check out DJ Fitzys page too.

Until next time…be safe, love each other and keep smiling! xoxo

I will post the winner(s) name in tomorrows post.
